Sage Dental of Midtown Atlanta

This corporate dental office has such high turnover that in 5 years they've changed dentists 3 times and I've never seen the same hygienist twice. 6 months ago, the hygienist said my gums were healthy, measuring 2s and 3s. This month, the new hygienist said I had deep pockets in my gums measuring 5s and 6s. She and the new dentist recommended a $900 treatment plan (with insurance) for a filling, deep cleaning, and 8 doses of Arestin. I went to Dr. Greene at Fabulous Smiles for a second opinion. She said my teeth and gums were healthy, no cavities, and all I needed was a standard cleaning for a $10 copay. Sage will also try to upsell you on an oral cancer screening. Dr. Chang said she saw something in my throat that needed to be checked by an oral surgeon. For weeks I was terrified that I might have cancer, so I visited an oral surgeon who's not affiliated with Sage. She told me that not only did she not see any cause for concern but that she didn't trust dental office cancer screenings

I had my first visit with Sage Dental today, and I can honestly say I was impressed. It’s been quite some time since I have been to a dentist and felt apprehensive and a little embarrassed about the condition of my teeth.. Everyone made me feel extremely comfortable and were compassionate about my fears. My technician Katrina was absolutely amazing and explained everything in detail so I understood what was happening and why, Dr.Chang was knowledgeable and patient. The front desk staff were pleasant and gave me tons of information and guidance. I look forward to working with them on my oral health journey!!

The clinical staff is A1. However, beware of office staff, lack of communication, and possibly being over-charged every single visit. I was given a treatment plan that from day one hasn’t been correct. Even after asking on the last appointment for corrected fees/treatment plan, I still came in today to be charged $200 more than expected. It’s not unreasonable to ask to know what to expect when you’re paying at a dentist office or have an idea of what you will be paying per visit. The office staff seems extremely incompetent, and if you ask any questions, they immediately catch an attitude. Dr. Vaughn is awesome, as well as, hygienists, but zero stars for front office staff.
