The consolation with the periodontist was professional and went well. However, I must admit to being highly disappointed when it came to discovering, only at the end of my consultation, that this periodontist was not in my dental insurance plan and that I would 1. Have to pay close to $300 out of pocket for a 20 minute consultation that essentially already told me what two prior dental visits already confirmed and that even used prior x-rays from prior visits and 2.) that the entirety of the proposed dental extraction and implant procedure would not be covered by my insurance and that I would have to pay out of pocket nearly $10,000 when all is said and done. I was profoundly displeased to not only learn this, but also to have this information only be provided at this late stage. At no time when I made this consultation appointment 2 weeks ago was this information disclosed to me.
