Tend Dental Downtown

Do. Not. Do. Orthodontics. With. Tend. Since inception, there has been nothing but absolutely horrendous logistics in getting set up & serviced, and because of this what should have been a 9-12 mo braces process became a 15 mo+ process. From start of the process, I was told I needed to cover off an exam and a couple other things before coming in for my appointment. I finished those things 3-5 days before my installation appointment, and was then told that I actually needed that to START my process of getting the braces created. So my initial installation was pushed back 1 month+ because of poor communication. I've had 4+ appointments (out of 9 - so over 40%) cancelled. The only solution is to push the appointment a 1-2 months, and up to 2.5 months, before being able to be rescheduled. My braces were supposed to be done before my wedding, and because of at least 2 appointments that were pushed back 2+ months - that's no longer possible. The last ortho appointment they said I had 3 month

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. After telling the hygienist I struggle with X-rays due to the size of my mouth, once she started struggling she put lidocaine on my mouth without telling me. I left the office once I found out and they begged me to finish and promised me I wouldn’t be charged. I began to feel the onset of an allergic reaction happening while I was there because of the lidocaine. And then after all of that, they told me at the end they were going to charge my insurance. So I still ended up paying to be violated by a hygienist by a substance that I’m allergic to. Never again. This is a terrible practice and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

Tend is the best! I used to have terrible anxiety at the dentist and now I actually look forward to my visits. This was my third visit with Tend, and first time at their Downtown D.C. location. Upon arrival I was immediately checked in and within minutes, I was back in my suite getting my cleaning started. Ebony was my hygienist and she was the best - she was bubbly, kind, and gentle when cleaning. Not once did she make me feel insecure/judged for not being perfect with my cleaning at home, and her tips for improvement were actually helpful. Dr. Ho was equally as great. He was prompt to see me after my cleaning and gave me multiple opportunities to share any concerns I was having about my teeth.
