VCU Dental Care

They might be great if they actually called to set up an appointment. I have called two times in the last three weeks to make an appointment for a kid that needs work done under sedation. I haven't gotten a call back. Apparently, sometimes if you call, you're able to speak to the staff rather than the answering service, but no one know when that is. VCU, if this is how you're training your dentists to handle their practices, it needs serious work.

Pros: Dr Edmonds, friendly reception staff, knowledgeable doctors, cute and kid friendly waiting room, large exam rooms. Cons: No covers on any electrical sockets, extremely difficult to find, you have to pay for parking, long walk from parking deck if you have children you are carrying, too many people in exam room. I originally requested for my daughter to be seen by Dr. Brickhouse and made our appointment with her. Once in the back we were actually seen by Dr. Edmonds with no explanation as to why we were not seeing the doctor I requested. However; Dr. Edmonds was amazing. She was sweet, genuine, gentle, patient, and very knowledgeable. She had a great smile and personality and I got the feeling that she truly needs to be working with children. She was great. She spent a lot of time with us the huge exam room. She didn't make me feel rushed and allowed me to ask any and all questions I had. My children and I are from another state with NO access to old docx. We are NEW to VCU Dental Peds, we haven't even seen a provider yet. I called 828-0951 to asked a question to see if my specific issues was URGENT or not. Not only did the female staff members forward me around unnecessarily but refused to send a question to the On-call Provider because my children aren't established. The machine message states nothing about children having to be established prior. The female staff members were discourteous, disrespectful, ill-manner, impertinent, inconsiderate, unprofessional. Worse on call answering service I have ever experience. Quit or Hire employees that can do their job and be helpful to parents and new patients. The sad part is that the Providers and Nurses are probably nice and great at their job but the office front line needs to be retrained or replaced. 1 star because holiday answering service.
